Impacted Canines

Impacted canines occur when teeth fail to erupt naturally due to obstruction or improper alignment. This is typically diagnosed by a dentist or orthodontist. Canine exposure and bonding is a procedure designed to facilitate the eruption of impacted canine teeth into their proper position within the dental arch. Working in tandem with your orthodontist, your surgeon will make a small incision in the gums to expose the impacted tooth. A bracket with a small chain is then bonded to the tooth. You will then return your orthodontist where tension will be applied to the chain to bring the tooth into proper alignment.
